The SKX that began the passion that's since occupied much of my free time...
This timepiece started it's life as a humble SKX007, supplied brand new on a jangly jubilee metal bracelet. In the time it took for the watch to reach NZ, I had researched the exact design I wanted to build, and set about customising as soon as the watch reached him.
With a design & namesake based off the Rolex 116622, I set about building an affordable alternative that could very easily be an everyday piece yet still be unique with my personal touch.
The project: - Crystal upgrade to double dome sapphire with blue AR - Bezel insert swap to steel "Yachtmaster" - Second hand swap to painted red item with lumed lollipop, sword minute hand (OEM hour hand) - Sunburst blue dial from a PADI 7s26 - Oyster style 316L bracelet
Update December 2019: - Replace 7s26 with NH36 - Swap in signed crown - Replace second hand
DLW Watches Feature
I was honoured to have my partially-finished little creation featured on the DLW site..! Whilst I do not align with any one supplier (rather I source the best parts for my purposes from multiple suppliers worldwide), it is nice to have a feature on DLW..! Damien runs an impressive operation, and is more than a little inspiration for my creation of Time Design.

Rework
In December 2019, I undertook a project to refresh this build and modernise it with a new movement and handset. I swapped in an NH36, replacing the day wheel for a 100% alignment. I also replaced the second hand to remove the flash of red and tone down the overall aesthetic. Finally, I upgraded the crown to a signed "S" item.
