I have been tasked with a project to build a timepiece to mark a special occasion for a client who is a lover of art.
With such a broad project brief I could allow my imagination to lead this build. As I have a fair amount of history with building Seiko-based watches, to narrow this search had me looking at Japanese artworks.
Hokusai's Great Wave off Kanagawa is an influential Japanese art piece from the 1830's, and recognised as an important work in Japan's history.
To incorporate this work into a custom built case with a Seiko movement would be something rather special. Watch this space..!
The first parts have started arriving for Project Kanagawa. This case is custom-made to fit an NH35/36 movement, perfect for this purpose. See through display caseback is included and it has the option of a sapphire crystal however I opted to go for a double domed mineral for a vintage aesthetic on this build. Crystal gasket included regardless.
